Programming out ABS

Have I missed something?!?!
I have went from a 4ch to a 3ch rear and will just not have Traction control, and I found where to 'turn if off' in edit.
i am guessing the ABS light might come on and I have been all over LT1edit trying to find the place to remove ABS and I have come up blank.

Is this something I got to send the file off to someone to be deleted?

Re: Programming out ABS

What I have found out is that the ABS system is a different computer from the PCM therefore nothing in LT1edit to remove it.

BUT just reprogrammed the car for no TCS and the ASR light is on....can that be programmed out or is that tied into the ABS system....

Re: Programming out ABS

You cannot program out the ABS system or the traction control light from the PCM. You can, however, disable the traction control system and zero out the TCS tables. In theory, this should disable the traction control system even though the light is still on, but I haven't tried it. If you could give it a try and let us know, that would be great!

BTW, you should be able to just cut/disconnect the wire for the traction control light if it doesn't work anymore with the reprogrammed PCM.

Re: Programming out ABS

yeah, I zero'd out the Traction control values and set the flag to 'off' on the initial LT1edit screen.
I know for sure I dont have traction control!!!!!
Just got the lights, I guess when I pull the dash will pull those bulbs!

What is the life of one of those bulbs? Maybe they will just burn out?!

Re: Programming out ABS

That's good to know. Thanks.
I wouldn't count on the light burning out. Just PM someone with a 97 shop manual and ask them to trace the TCS light wire for you so you can cut it/disconnect it. Or you can also pull out the bulb if you want.
I know shoebox has the manual, but he may be busy. Couldn't hurt to email him though.
