this maybe a stupid question and i think the answer is no but i just wanna make sure. but can a car be tuned if you dont know the the cam specs or much else that is under the hood?
i was STUPID and bought a z28 with a stroker motor and thats about all i know. im just wondering if it can be tuned? i was also kinda wonder how to figure out ways of telling if it really needs tuned.

 

Yes, it can.

You could bring it to a local dyno shop and have it dyno-tuned. They tune it by measuring the horsepower across the RPM range, and monitoring the air fuel ratio.

is there anyways of tell me what is under the hood without tearing the engine down.

 

Even if you tear down the motor, it will be difficult to know exactly what grind cam you have, what kind of portwork has been done to the heads, among other things.
