People with 95' Computer in here!

So how the hell do yall scan these things? Its one of those OBD1's with OBDII Connectors but it has more pins or something.

Is there a way to rig it so i can just use a regular one instead of shelling out lots of cash just to get it scanned and find out what the SES light is?

That pic shows how to adapt a regular 12 pin OBD-I scanner cable to the 16 pin DLC on 1995. Otherwise, you need the correct adapter cable for the OBD-I scanner to connect to the 16 pin DLC.

I use a AKM OBDII cable hooked up to my laptop and use freescan.

So with just those to pins connected it will scan the car?

Its to wires shoved into the 2 pins with female connectors onto the scan tool and then it will scan the car?

Yes, if you can connect it like the picture shows.

Re: People with 95' Computer in here!

I have a similiar question. My car is a 96 but I had the swap done from obd2 to 1 and recently bought a scanner (Autoxray EZ-Read 2000) that reads both OBD1 and OBD2. Problem is, is that the scanner asks for the 4th and 8th VIN for my car which obviously isnt going to work because it's a 96 and I'm telling the scanner it's a 95 so it doesn't recognize the PCM. So can I get someone's 4th and 8th VIN # on an actual 95 car and will it work or does the PCM have the VIN # stored inside it? If so I need to find out what the PCM's VIN # is from MadZ28 so I can get this thing to work. The manual also says something about another cable you can buy for $15 to read the cars manufactured as OBD1 PCM but OBD2 connector, but I would think the Generic OBD2 connector that came with my scanner should work since the car does have an actual OBD2 connector since it is a 96 but I dunno. I'm confused someone help please any information or help anyone can provide is much appreciated Thanks

Myles

The easiest thing to do would be to get a 12-pin OBD-I ALDL connector, and wire it per the standard 12-pin configuration. Then you hook up your generic version OBD-I scanner and its a direct connect. The alternative would be to get the AutoXray 12-pin/OBD-I to 16-pin/OBD-I adapter for a 95 model, and repin your OBD-II ALDL connector to match the AutoXray, which will end up with the wires to the pins shown in Shoebox's photo.
