PE tuning

From all that I have seen, the only way that you can tune your car WOT is with wide ban O2 sensors at the dyno.

I'm going to check with my friend with a snap on scanner soon to see what the duty cycle of my injectors are during heavy throttle and high rpms. I hope that they aren't 100% open. I have 30# accels in my car now.

After that fix (if there is a problem), I'm going to the dyno with wide ban O2 sensors and see what is going on. How would I check spark advance at WOT to see if it is where it needs to be? I have seen spark advance up to 40+ degrees riding along with my laptop and freescan. ( I also have tunner cat)

Thanks Yall

Correct on the wideband tuning. However, I highly suggest that you get your BLM's dialed in dead on before heading there. The reason being that you will do your first run with the BLM's learned by the computer. Then when you go to change your AFR, BLM's will not have had a chance to relearn before going into PE mode. If you have no idea where your BLM's are, then you run the chance of being confused by your 2nd and further runs compared to your first.

To prepare, I disabled PE mode and ran my car in all trim cells (especially in 12-15) 100% TPS and up to rev lim. I then modified my MAF to get my BLM's within 2-3 pts either way. It took a few iterations, but it was worth it because when I went to the wideband, I was dead on my PE AFR.

Oh, also you have the benefit of the true duals that can help you trim each side of the engine separately.

Just my experience, others may have different ideas.

I've looked on freescan and couldn't find it.

So I'm looking for yall for help. Is there any software out there that I can get to put on my POS laptop to find out what the duty cycle is on my injectors?

Thanks

I use DataMaster and that gives the voltage as well as the ms that the injector is supposed to open for.

Very nice program.

Duty cycle can be calculated.

Duty cycle = pulse width / time for two crank revs.

If you express pulse width in milliseconds, the formula becomes:

Duty Cycle = (PW x RPM) / 120,000

Example.... if you have an 18mSec PW at 6,000rpm:

DC = (18 x 6000) / 120,000 = 108,000 / 120,000 = 0.90 = 90% DC

TTS DataMaster does this calculation for you, but I have seen some numbers come out of DataMaster that don't make any sense at all... e.g. 115% DC on a bolt on motor making way less than 400flywheelHP.

Datamaster

I'll go ahead and get datamaster and use that 20 free runs to see how I like it. I ran my car yesterday on freescan and I was seeing on BLM Cell #10 (6th gear at 60mph) I was getting 145 BLM and the intergrators were mainly staying above 128. I watched it for a good while and the BLM never changed. (@3 minutes of crusing)

I was also pulling some knock retard. Probably due to a header leak, but that is something else I need to take care of also.

I also found out that ACCELS 30# injectors are set for 45psi also, and my BIN file that I'm using has the constant for fuel injector flow rate at @31.52 (I think) instead of 30#.

Anyway, I'm going to find me a new BIN file and load it into my car and start over. We'll get this thing figured out.

Thanks
