PCMforless tuning...

Just wanted a little feedback on these guys, I need my ecm tuned and wanna try the mail in tune for starters. I was going to go with Madz28 but he doesn't reply to my pms so im assuming he's busy or something, and I kinda want this done asap, so im going with pcmforless now depending on what I see from others that have went with them. Otherwise I may just go to Tracey scott or LT1dave and see what they can do. I'd rather do the mail in though for now until I get serious power adders like heads/cam, in which I plan to spend the money on dyno tuning.

You might be interested in the fact that on May 14/15 we (pcmforless) will be in OH doing dyno tuning.

Re: PCMforless tuning...

I had Alvin do a couple chips for my 93 about 5 or so years ago, the car was a heads cam 6 inch rod , 30 # injector combo , it ran very nicely on his tune (ran low low 12s @ 112-113). I also had Bryan at PCM for less do the base tuning on my 383 with an OBD 1 conversion (in my 97 T/A) After scanning it after initial load and driving around while scanning it I was confident to drive for quite a while unafraid of problems on his tune. He made changes as I needed them.

I recently bought tunercat to do fine tuning and the like myself (I like playing with stuff) . After seeing how much work goes into a tune I really have more appreciation for their job they did for me. I know for base tunes I will allways rely on them.

I hear the same good feedback from people who have worked with Ion (Madwolf) as well.

My feedback is that they are the tuning guru's, the originals if you will and they are still on top of their game. Yeah, ed white was around first, but he didn't really keep up with the times. Ion (madz28) really just got his buisiness started recently in comparison to pcmforleSS. Ion is on here a lot so a lot of cz28er's jumped on his bandwagon. I have nothing against him, never dealt with him. I'm just saying that from my perspective he was trying to grow his new buisiness and so he kept a high profile on here and therefore a lot of recognize him on this site. Very few people have actually used more than one people for tunes, so most of the time when people say "so and so is great" they don't really have anything to benchmark from. Through my various tuning phases Bryan has always treated me great and gotten solid results, and if i had a chip car i'm sure Alvin would have done the same.

That's Wright

I hate to say it but I have "heard" that some of Brian's first tunes were nothing more than ripped off Ed Wright tunes....call it "learning," call it "cheating," or call it "stealing" - fortunately those days are long gone and PCMforLess has certainly asserted itself in the aftermarket GM tuning world.

i don't have any specific knowledge of that, but i'm in no position to argue it. Honestly, do you thing ANY of the tuners truly started from scratch???

Couldn't agree more.

Bottom line, your splitting hairs, just go with whomever can get the job done right in your timeframe.

Re: PCMforless tuning...

the first tune bryan sent me was at 13.1 to 13.3 like a line across the dyno. i asked him to add a touch of fuel and i had the new .bin in like 2 days. i lost my original .bin and bryan sent me one to match my car in 2 days. i made a mistake on the gear ratio and asked for an update once i had the correct gear. it took 1 day. this was all via email. the service and quality are excellent and you will be more than pleased with the results.

as for madz28 i have no personal experience but have never read a bad post.

Re: PCMforless tuning...

I like Bryan, and Rooster, I've been using tuner cats for 2 years, and have done a few tunes for the local guys, little stuff, nothing big, when I added the headers and did a lot of other thing to my car, I used Bryan, and what did I get, I picked up .2 in the 1/8 and 6 mph with bryans tune over mine.

so yeah I sorta like the way he tunes.

Re: PCMforless tuning...

I just met both of them today at the dyno tune - PowerHouse Performance - top notch guys.

Oh, and i've heard nothing but great things about their tunes - now i've seen their work first hand. These guys know their stuff, there's no doubt about it.

Did I mention that they are great guys too?

Thumbs up Re: PCMforless tuning...

Had my car tuned on Saturday. Bryan tuned it in 3 pulls. Picked up 21 HP and 45 Torque. Happy with the results would be an understatement!!! Great people to work with.
