PCM sync problem w/ Datamaster (already did Search)

I tried logging a few runs with Datamaster on my 94 LT1 and we kept getting a PCM sync problem. He's using an older Dell laptop with serial ports and the setup works fine with some different software on his 93. We downloaded Datamaster to log a few runs on my car and there the problem arose. It detects the PCM but keeps flashing a PCM sync error (I forget the exact verbage).

After doing extensive research on the topic in this forum, we narrowed the cause down to a couple of things. First was to disable the CCM handshake in Advanced Options, which we tried to no avail. This shouldn't have affected us anyway because it appears only those people running USB had problems with this. The next thing was ALDL timing adjustment. How exactly do we set this and are there any specific values to stick to?

I ended up 'trying' to log a couple of runs with Freescan. The first run never got saved and the second one logged only up till 52 mph when the cable popped out of the ALDL. All I gathered from the last run was that my O2's pegged at ~950mv, which I believe is a 'tad' on the rich side . However, the integrator value at idle was about 124, which my friend said was on the lean side.

Any help with getting Datamaster to run would be greatly appreciated. I am really anxious to know what exactly my motor's doing .

i have a 95 lt1

i could not get datamaster to work. It kept trying to connect to the pcm over and over again. When i would test the connection it was fine, it said pcm detected. I could not even get the VIN.

I changed all the timeout times to the max, and that didnt help.

I would play with the baud rate settings in windows. 8N1 and the speed.

disabling the ccm handshake (in options --> advanced, in the record window)gets rid of that synch message, but the thing still wont connect.
