pcm bad?
pcm bad?
i got a 96 z28 the guy i bought it from put a obd1 in it. now i burn the left 02 up evey 3 months. and now i have it unpluged it takes about 20 mins for it to put out a SES light. is that normal? i figured it should put the light on right when it starts. if any one could help it would make this problem mutch easyer to solve
Re: pcm bad?
If I remember correctly, if the O2 sensor is not working properly, the computer will not notice until it reaches closed loop, which usually takes a few minutes. If the SES light consistently comes on after 20 minutes or so, I would guess it is more something emissions regulation related, like the EGR system is not working properly. Although it could be because the O2 is disconnected. You should get the car scanned to see what code you are throwing. It's hard to diagnose until you know that.
Have no idea why you are wasting O2 sensors. Which ones do you buy? I know that most people have better luck with the AC Delco O2 sensors. I believe the part number is AFS75 for the fronts.
