p1406 code help

what dose this code mean beside's manufactuer control auxiliary emission control? 96 rs 3.8l

P1406 is for the EGR valve. Try pulling it off and cleaning it out. If that doesn't work you might have to replace it.

ok is there any type of cleaner that is safe to use on the egr? carb/brake cleaner fine?

ok i got it off and now i cant get it apart is there a trick to this?

code hasnt came back after i cleared it and i didnt see any build up in it

anyone got a walkthough on cleaning the egr i can get it off but idk how to tear it apart i dont want to break it

There is a EGR valve position sensor involved here. Either the valve is not moving properly (carbon buildup at the open/close tip) , the position sensor circuit is faulty, or the wiring to the EGR valve solenoid or sensor is defective. Cleaning usually helps , but it could also be other causes.
