opinions for tuning with wild cams
opinions for tuning with wild cams
What's everyones opinion on running open loop full time with cams like mine with alot of overlap? I haven't tried yet but It does seems to be much more responsive, smells less, and the cam hits harder before it goes into closed loop. Should or shouldn't I do this??? and if so should I just max out the "min cool temp for closed loop" in the ecm constants? The main thing i'm trying to fix is how bad it stinks with my wideband reading 14.7 in closed loop.
I run open loop all the time.
I have a cam sligthly larger than yours at 110° too.
You need logging software, a wideband and some time to dial it in.
And yes, all you need to do to keep it in open loop is max ot the min temp for closed loop.

Re: opinions for tuning with wild cams
I love open loop, works great. I tried eveything to get closed loop working with big cam and concluded there's no simple way unless you could figure out a way to get the PCM to attempt to hold a different AFR in the problem area's, in my case it was light load and light accel, the AFR was showing about 14.7 but it sure sounded and felt like it was leaning out the more the PCM applied corrections, in open loop it runs rock solid all the time.
