OBDII Plug in Software?

Ok, So I know that there a few different monitoring softwares that willplug into the OBDII port and you can monitor them on your laptop in the car with you. Put which software is best? and does the cable come with it?

Well you have to buy an Elmscan interface.

Then click on software and see what they list.
Some of it's free other stuff is in the 40.00 range.

Re: OBDII Plug in Software?

I have the single protocol GM as the multi unit wasn't out when I bought mine.
I recall I paid 90.00 for it from another supplier when I bought some software.
I have an IBM A20 with XP Pro and a built in com port
that I use for my scanning and OBDII LT-1 Edit.
but they have a USB cable on their accesories page
for newer laptops that don't have a com port anymore.

http://www.akmcables.com/ sells the cable to connect your laptop to the car. FreeScan is a program that will let you monitor various engine temps and such.

Re: OBDII Plug in Software?

He doesn't have an OBDII cable according to his website.
His cables are for OBD1 currently.
The Elmscan is designed for scanning programs for OBDII only.
