OBDII and 7500rpms?

I have started to hear that the PCM has tables up to 7500 in the OBDII PCM. Does anyone know how much truth there is to this?

Thanks
Jeremy

that is completley false. LT1 edit allows editing up to 7000 RPMs. (only 6800 RPMs on some tables)

Anything above 7000 RPMs the OBD2 PCM will no longer compensate for fuel or spark. Simply It will take the LAST FUEL CELL AMOUNT and SPARK CELL AMOUNT and continue to use these numbers beyond 7000 rpms.

I have a 383ci capable of spinning 8000+ and the powerband goes well into the 7000 RPM range. On the dyno I made a few pulls up to 7500 RPMS on the stock PCM. Even trying to BANDAID the problem by lowering the 6800-7000 spark table and fuel tables it didnt help too much. the A/F ratio went too lean. So my recomendation, do not go beyond 7000 RPMs on the stock PCM.
But if you must go beyond 7000 RPMs get an aftermarket PCM like accel DFI or FAST or MOTEC.

I havent made the $2500 upgrade to DFI yet because I rarely ever shift at 7000 RPMs + at the moment. The 4L60E doesnt fair to well at these rpms. MY th400 and 12 bolt will then give me a reason for the DFI setup in the near future
