OBD2 Data logging

I have been browsing around the site for a while looking for a solid OBD2 data scanning option, and i have seem to only find many options for the OBDI Computers, and a select few for OBD2, Auto tap is the only program that i see has the most options, but comes at a high price. 300$ with advanced GM options. this does not include tuning, am i correct? just scanning?

any other OBD2 options that would be cheaper? i need a cable also, which makes the autotap setup a decent option. Also, from what i understand, auto tap is not vin locked. correct?
thanks for your help.

This is the challenge with OBD2, and why a lot of people convert to OBD1 PCMs in their LT1 cars - currently there's no real viable low-cost data logging option.

If you have TunerCat's OBD2 tuner, you can buy Monodax's OBD2 data logger for $69.99. The Autotap stuff is logging only, you cannot tune with it.

I heard that Moates.net was selling TunerCat's OBD2 interface cable by itself. I'd guess it'd be in the $200-$300 range. You could get into Monodax's data logging solution for about $400 at that point.

The biggest issue is that darned expensive OBD2 interface cable.

I have also been looking for a good datalogger for my 97 TA. One reason I don't want to revert back to OBD1 because I was told the current PCM has been tuned.

Does the autotap package you mentioned for $300 include cable and software?

I hate to hijack this thread but, is there anyway to tell if my PCM does indeed have a custom tune?

Good question about AutoTap. I have my trusty Summit catalog in front of me here. It says:

BBE-ATU AutoTap scan tool and software: $199.95
BBE-ATUATENDOM Software upgrade $449.95

I don't think that gets us any closer to knowing the answer. Gosh I wonder what the software upgrade is!

If you have somebody read the calibration out of your PCM and compare it to a stock calibration they could tell if your PCM has a custom tune in it.
