OBD1 Question

OBD1 cars I'm told cant shift past 7100 because of the computer I'm told. My question is what happens if you do go past that limit? Will it through a code? What exactly happens?

Re: OBD1 Question

Well, if your opti dosnt fly apart, then the motor will probably not supply fuel or spark to the motor. The PCM has no idea what to do as the tables do not go that high.

Re: OBD1 Question

Some where in the 7000 to 7300 range, the PCM simply shuts down. This kills all ignition and fuel and the motor will obviously just quit. It takes a "key off" then "key on" to reset the PCM. It's kinda embarassing when this happens at the track. Don't ask me how I know

Re: OBD1 Question

If you need to spin it that hard thats when you move onto a stand alone management system, and a ignition system that turns the opti into a pointer and takes the spark out of it.
