OBD1 conversion ?

I have a 97 Formula and wanna do the OBD1 conversion. If I get a computer from a 94-95 F-body is it just plug and play? I know to tune out the knock sensor or get one from that year.

Re: OBD1 conversion ?

Its also possible to make in internal modification to the OBD-I PCM to allow it to function with the 100kOhm OBD-II knock sensor.

Re: OBD1 conversion ?

What Injuneer is saying is that there is a way to modify the internal circuitry of an OBDI PCM so that it will simply plug into the car and function properly using the OBDII knock sensor. I'm not sure how it's done, but that is how my OBDI conversion PCM was prepared by PCMforless. It *may* not be the sort of thing the average Joe should attempt - I don't know.

Replacing the knock sensor with the OBDI unit is easy enough. I would not tune it out.
