OBD not ready
OBD not ready
I failed smog and the smog tech said the OBD was not ready (OBD II). The paper printout says
I deleted a SES code just before I had the car smogged and also I think the smog tech might have played with the tuning in order to get my car to pass. Would deleting a code cause the OBD to not be ready?
This vehicle failed the mil/check engine light due to failure to successfully complete all OBD self tests.
Re: OBD not ready
Maybe, what code was it? Was something just not "ready?" Too bad their description isn't more specific. Only thing I can think of to do is www.obdii.com/drivecycle.html and try again. So glad we don't have emissions testing in Florida.
Re: OBD not ready
Yes, deleting a code will present a "not ready" status. You may want to find out exactly what kind of tuning was done and what your regulations are in your state. In IL, we are allowed up to 2 "not ready" statuses. When I did my long tubes, I made sure to keep the AIR and EGR systems intact and functional, and I used 02 simulators instead of PCM tuning just for this reason.
Re: OBD not ready
Did some searching and it looks like 02 sims are what I need. Thanks you guys for helping me avoid a 3rd smog failure (failed the sniffer once then failed the system check).
