OBD II Diagnostic Tool Recommendations?

I have got to get my car inspected next month. This is the first year that it is required so I want to get a tool to scan my car to erase any trouble codes before I go. I have been looking at the Actron CP9145. It does live data, etc. Anyone have another program that may be better? I have a laptop, but I don't think my wife will let me use it for this purpose.(costs too much) I was figuring on spending around 200.00.

If you only want to read/erase codes, you can buy a tool for that for ~$30. I bought this one a while back and it does just that.

Sorry if I'm hijacking your thread.
I'm looking to log data for my tuner. Software/cable advice please? My laptop has no COM port, only USB's or parallel port.

Try the USB unit at:
http://www.obd2allinone.com
It comes with all the cables, a software CD, and clear instructions. It is quite easy to use. The OBD2allinone serial unit with a Palm OS device logs data too with the free OBD Gauge software package.
