Newbie can't get Freescan to work, help?

Just got the cable in and fired up the laptop with Freescan. It's taking lines of data in the status window, but I can't get any info on the dashboard or any of the other realtime window's. I tried interact and everything. It logs data and will log to file.
The other thing I need to know is if I can log to my harddrive instead of to a disk since I have external floppy drive and it's not to handy. I created a file name to my desktop and logged data, but when I tried to open it, it said no program associated with it. Can someone run me through the steps to log my data of my runs please. Simplied terms. Thanks. It's a new laptop by the way, so I don't think there's a problem there.

Ive never really logged data with freescan, personally I like datamaster for it. You might want to try that for the free 20 scans to make sure u have everything setup correctly, and then work off of freescan. I do use freescan still thou becuase its nice for a quick check on my o2 sensor readings, but the options for datamaster make it much more worth it.

I use Freescan all the time with no problems.

First I had to select the car I owned. In the drop down box you have several choices. Pick your car. Hit the force data, interact button. You should be ready to roll.

Pick the option to log in a csv format. When I log, I chose wherever I want to save, name it, and press save. It should then be logging. I press the "stop logging" button(or whatever it is called) when I am done.

You then need a program that reads csv files such as Excel.

Hope it works out for you. Mike

I had trouble at first until I told it to interact. Same as Slim says though. It's easy once you get past that.
