New to self tuning. Tunercat or LT1 Edit?

I searched topics like "tunercat or lt1edit" and "what program is better" but didn't come up with much. Granted this is an opinion based question what do you reccomend for someone that is just starting out tuning?

I plan on doing a lot of it with my car since I have access to a dyno ($40 an hour) and go to the strip many times. So I think learning and messing around with it on my own would be the smarter/cheaper way to go about it. Ands I love to learn when it comes to cars. I'm building the whole car myself at home anyways (slowly but its getting there). I already purchased my cable from AKM and downloaded the free software. Its a USB cable and didn't work last night. So today i went ahead and ordered the Balkin F5U103 adaptor becuase i searched and that seems to fix the problem.

Thanks

PS: I'm going to buy TTC Datamaster as well.

I have LS1Edit to tune my '99 SS, and I have TunerCat to tune my '87 IROCZ. They both work about the same; tuning is a matter of data logging your engine functions and then deciding on the right tables to modify for your specific needs.

I would maybe choose by price (I dont know how they compare as I write this) and versatility. How many cars can your tune with each; are they serial number locked; what other items (cost) are involved with each to operated them, like a laptop or a programmer Plus unit, cost of cables, etc. Sum it all up and make a decision.

Re: New to self tuning. Tunercat or LT1 Edit?

I have been doing some more reading and on LT1 Edits website (carputing) i read something about SP2 and AMD processors. If I have a P4 and Microsoft SP2 installed will LT1 Edit still work properly? Tunercat?

Thanks again.

Since you have a 94, I would go with tunercat. It's cheaper and easier to work.

Thanks. I heard LT1 Edit was more "user friendly". I didn't know year mattered.
