new to laptop and tuneing

well i just got a new laptop for "work" and i wanted to know what the best program would be for a beginner to tune my car and see what all the ses codes mean. also what cables i am going to need to buy and really how to use it and what not to do. Also any othet hings you guys can think of. thanks alot

you can get the last off the second links site. and you will have to buy a usb to serial and only buy a belkin fsu105 or 103

Not being a smart allec here, but you probably don't have a serial port. You probably do have a printer port. The serial port is a smaller port and a printer is pretty big. The serial port looks similar to where you wold plug a monitor to.

The serial port is a male (pins sticking out) 9pin port, that's were you put ALDL cable in. If you don't have it - buy that Belkin USBtoRS adapter or a RS232 PCMCIA card.
