New Chip for a 1993 Z28
New Chip for a 1993 Z28
I've been thinking about getting a new performance chip for my 1993 Z28 (six-speed). It's stock except for a K&N cold air intake. I'm still pretty new at all of this so any help recommending a chip would be much appreciated. So far this Hypertech is all I've found. http://store.summitracing.com/partde...08022+400318+0

ouch! $179?? for a little more you could buy the aldl cable, flash chip programmer, and adapter to give yourself infinate tuning and upgrade abilities. start with moates.net and tunerpro.net.. all the hardware and software you need to get you on the right path
Thanks for the help guys. I've never tuned a chip myself so I don't know anything about it. If it's something I can learn on my own could you show me where I can learn it? If not, any product recommendations would be much appreciated. Thanks.
download the following:
TunerPro editing software

$DA3 - 93 LT1 editor definition

Stock 93 F-Body BIN

TTS Datamaster Logging software

VEMaster

Moates ALDL Cable
http://www.moates.net/product_info.p...roducts_id=127
you can start with the Tunerpro editor, the DA3 XDF file and the stock bin. Install tunerpro and then inside the program open the XDF file for your ecm that you downloaded and last open this factory BIN. you can look at all of the options that you can edit yourself.. usually just scaling the entire timing table 5-10% gives you a nice improvement and you may even go more on the 100 MAP "WOT" if you run 93 octane. If you want to get serious you will need the ALDL cable to log "using DATAMASTER" to show you if you have knock counts and need to reduce timing in certain areas and/or adjust fuel in certain areas. Moates sells a piggy-back adapter that lets you run flash chips in your ecm so you can fairly quickly pull the chip, reflash, and re-install. http://www.moates.net/product_info.p...products_id=32
you would also need the flash programmer to reprogram the flash chip. this might be a little too much info to digest but you might want to go over to thirdgen.org, the 93 LT1 ECM is very similar to the 92 TPI computer that all these guys upgrade to.. so all the procedures and info is pretty much the same
