Need help with ALDL Cable!
I bought one of the ALDL cables from Mastach.com and an unlimited tune from Madz28.com (I hear he does good work!) Anyways the cable "tests" fine however i can't get it to connect to the pcm, any program i've tried just says that theres no response from pcm? Is there a special trick to upload the tune? BTW the ignition is in the on position when i've tried this as instructed.
Re: Need help with ALDL Cable!
What are the specs on your computer? Some just dont work for whatever reason. I bought an old dell lappy for tuning and I could never get it to connect or say connected for long periods of time. Finally found an old IBM and it worked perfect.
Real hit and miss from what ive discovered.

Re: Need help with ALDL Cable!
The problem is in the mastach cable, I just ran into the same problem, and he is 0 help w/ emails, I'm the only one that gave him negative feedback.
Here's the schematic for the cable, I know it's correct, I went completely through it. http://www.techedge.com.au/vehicle/aldl8192/8192hw.htm
Here's what I posted over at impalass.com
Got into the box tonight, then removed the masking tape wrapped around it, yea I know, wtf?, then started working the circuit, it is EXACTLY the same circuit as above, only they used 4.7uF caps. I put fired up my voltmeter, plugged in the circuit and immediately found the problem. They must have designed this for old rs232 adapters that were powerful back in the day, cause mine was only putting 3.4v to power pin of the translator, it's a texas instruments RS232N. Min voltage is 4.5v, so there ya go.
I pulled the 10k ohm resistor off the blue wire, pulled the back side of the diodes off the input of the power regulator, tied those ends together, then jumpered a wire from the blue wire (B-Mode Select) over to the input of the power regulator. Then I pushed the blue wire into the +12v pin of the aldl, and bam! 5 volts to the translator, held my breath, plugged it into the laptop, ran the aldl test, EVERYTHING passed, even extended, so I fired up datamaster, passed the test com, got the vin, hit monitor, DAYUM IT'S WORKING!!!! closed datamaster, opened up pcmread, just downloaded the program, now i'm off to do some vats removing, etc etc, thanks to Rafal I've only got 20 days left on tunercat!!
If you can run a soldering iron, you can fix it, just need a 1.5" of wire, if you aren't, you can send it to me and I will fix it for you, just send enough $ for return shipping.

I am having the same trouble. I tried the mastach cable first. I got the message "No response from pcm" So I thought it was the cable. I then went and bought a usb cable for $90 from akm.(nice cable by the way). But still seem to have no luck I am getting the same error message "no response from pcm" I have spent so much money and am getting no where. Does anyone think it could be a problem with my obd connection under the dash. The car is 1995 camaro lt1. I have tried to check the 16th pin to see if there is power and there is not. I even tried to run power to it directly from the battery then tried tunercat and still got the same message. I put the test light on the number 6th cable i believe and the fans came on. I am lost if anyone has any info please post. I'm sick of trying to mess with it and have sent the computer to pcmforless but i still want to hook up to tunercat. It seems this is a very hard and common problem.
