I have a 5.7L Z28, and was looking to install nitrous. I was told that I need a new computer chip, and that the chip I needed would run lower MPG. Is there a chip that uses more gas only during certain applications (using nitrous), and runs like stock when not using nitrous?

 

If you have a 94 Z28, with a 94 LT1 motor, controlled by a 94 computer, you will not need a "chip". You will need to reflash your computer with a new program, to account for the nitrous. Do a search for FastChips, or PCMForLess, and others. Or if you have a laptop/computer, and think you can mess with it yourself, there is TunerCat, and LT1Edit. You will need a cable to connect from your laptop/computer to the port located under your steering column. Some kits come with additional injector(s), and you won't need much in the way of computer reprogramming, so MPG would only be affected if you are using the nitrous.
