Which is more user freindly... Tunercat or LT1 Edit?

I am planning on purchasing some tuning software here soon and was wondering if Tunercat or LT1 Edit is very user friendly? I was leaning towards Tunercat because of cost and no VIN# lock, but if LT1 Edit is much more friendly to use that is the one I want to get. Thanks!

We sat down and compared both programs on time.

LT1 Edit has an easier to use interface, all the different tables and editing things are grouped in different sections. Click on a tab for Fuel, Gears, Transmission, etc.

Tunercat just has all the tables in a big pull down menu... so you have to look through 50 or so tables and find what you want to edit.

Tunercat has a very nice Help section which expalins all the tables, which LT1 Edit doesn't have. Both have graphs. Both can compare file differences.

I have Tunercat though, and like it, especially considering the price. I'm sure after you checked out both programs, you'd choose Tunercat, considering both do the same thing.

I have Tunercat and think it looks better, but the drop down menu can take some getting used to. You can actually make a few changes if you like, and you can make the drop down multiple colums at the minimum, without editing the TDF.

In a nutshell, sparing all tedious details, how do you use the Tuner cat or the LT1 edit? I mean from start to finish what do you do? What are the pitfalls and what do you wish you had known before you used it?

You'll have to learn how to use either one but I wish I'd have known that LT1edit cost about twice as much as Tunercat and was locked to only one vehicle. If I had to do it over again I'd have boughten Tunercat and Datamaster.

You need to know how cars work, if you dont know how the engine works (you can learn, obviously) then you can't use the program, if you could just punch in cam specs and get perfect tuning, then it wouldn't be a mail order biz to the degree that it is, sure would be nice if it were that easy but it isn't.

You do the same things in both programs effectively, the main difference is some GUI/naming convention differences and you program/read in DOS with Tunercat, but use the Tunercat editing program in Windows, and everything is done in Windows with LT1 Edit. There is however a flshprog utility for Windows now for Tunercat, I prefer DOS due to stability woes of Windows.

is there a website or books etc. where i can learn how to take advantage of these programs, I'm very interested. I also have hardly any knowledge of the various varibles that can be changed, I understand the basics of your old carberated engines but all of the sensor settings, calibrations of this and that I am totally lost. I would have no idea where to start or what to do when I get there. I have changed cams, clutches, headers, shifter, installed N20 and all of the mechanical stuff but all of that micro-tuning scares me. I willing to learn though, so help me out. I have a lap top already, and I would love to "tune" in the pits without having to even pop the hood!!!!!!!! Sure does **** off those tubbed out trailer queen, roll cage, no interior-stereo-a/c having drag cars when I put it on em and then pass em on the way home with their car in tow!!!!!!!!.....

Im interested in learning too. I want to be able to tune mine whenever I want and after I get more mods, etc. Is there somewehre to learn?

Like the guy above said, I can install the stuff but have no clue about how it all works and how programming affects it.
