Lt1 tuning

I have a buddy that tunes his LS1 himself and offered to help me tune my LT1 once I get the h/c setup on and see if we can't squeeze out a little more. I know nothing about it but I was wondering if tuning a LT vs tuning a LS is a big leap. I haven't found anyone else in my area that will do a hands on tune of my car. What do you guys think?

Re: Lt1 tuning

Hey fasteddie94 I own a custom shop and swap LT1's and LS1's all the time, but I dont own a Dyno yet so I use tjwong on this site to program my PCM's for me and he does an outstanding job! What I do is send him a list of all mods I do to the engine, tell him the rearend gear ratio, tire size and whatever else I can, example I just swapped a 1995 Corvette LT1, with a 1997 TA T-56 six speed into a 1976 Corvette. I added 3 inch dual exhaust, removed the cats, installed a K&N cone filter. I mailed the PCM to tjwong, he removed VATS, made the speedometer corrections, removed EGR, smog pump, bumped up the RPM limits, removed the speed limiter, made some performance mods and some other cals and shipped it back. The car runs great, is real fast now (over the 76 carb'ed 180hp smog motor) and the owner (whom bought the 76 vet brand new) has diven it From Wisconsin to North Carolina and back the 1st day he picked it up, and everypalce else since & has never had a problem and loves the car the way it is now. tjwong has done three of these for me now, the latest is a 1970 Camaro RS that I just dropped in a 1994 Corvette LT1 with a Camaro Z28 T-56, waiting to fire it up soon! So you can just mail him your PCM, he owns a Dyno Shop and may already have a tune he has performed on his Dyno with LT1 Edit for your car, and he reall knows his stuff. And his prices are great, he has saved me a lot of money and time, and he is a member on this site!
