Lightbulb LT1 Scanmaster?

I've been looking at some mods to do on my car while it sits in my garage for the winter and recently i've been considering the LT1 Scanmaster. But first, i want some input on what other people have heard about them or if they own one, how well they work and how easy they are to install.

Re: LT1 Scanmaster?

I have a scanmaster in my car for a few years now. Its a great tool to have. Alot easier than having to look at a laptop. I like it for getting codes.

I think there is a website that shows the install its pretty easy to do. I am sure someone has the link.

I'd suggest getting a Laptop. I bought a cheap used IBM laptop for $300 and then i got me a cable and i'm good to go. You can get scanning software like datamaster for free. Some guy was actually posting cracks. If not there is the trial version or you can just buy it. If you have that it'll do everything the scanmaster will do, and it'll even log runs for you so that you can look at them after you are done driving. Also with a laptop you can flash the pcm yourself and even branch into tuning later on. I had a scanmaster and ditched it when i got my TA dash. I decided the Laptop was a better setup. I paid $300 so i could get a decent laptop for other stuff, but i have a friend tuning his with a $150 IBM laptop. Its pretty cheap for what you can to.

I've got a laptop already, what cord do i need? It just plugs into the diagnostic port under the dash right? And is there a specific website to get the program?

Re: LT1 Scanmaster?

Do a search for tts datamaster in google. And AKM cable in google. The 95 OBD-1's have OBD-2 connectors, so verify which connector your car has

AKM is where most of us get our cables. I also believe he is the guy that made up datamaster so you might be able to get the trial version on that site too. The cracks were floating around in this forum not to long ago. Note, on the laptop, some laptops don't work for tuning. My buddy got a dell and his cpu would connect but then it would just lose connection out of no where. He got rid of it and went for the IBM and hasn't had any problems. I've heard the IBM's pretty much always work for tuning/scanning.

Re: LT1 Scanmaster?

DataMaster was developed by the owner of TTS... has nothing to do with Andrew at AKM, at least not to my knowledge. Andrew does sell several programs.

You might want to back off on suggesting "cracks" because it is the policy of this board to discourage illegal use of software, and corrective action will be (and has been) taken against people who promote it.

Sorry i thought Andrew was the one that made datamaster. As for me mentioning the crack i'm sorry. There was a long thread that went on for a long time in this forum where the crack was promoted and i didn't see that it got locked or deleted maybe it did. I was actually surprised it wasn't locked when i saw it. So i figured no one cared. Sorry Fred i won't mention it again in other posts.
