Lt1 Edit version 2.0 vs. 2.2?

Does anyone have the 2.2 version? If so do you like it better and would it be good for me or anyone else to upgrade? Thanks......John

I have LT1 edit version 2.2. I wanted the upgrade (cost $100) due to having an OBD2 PCM (1997 - M6). Version 2.2 had enhanced features that helped out with fueling the 383 - FI D1 power adder. Such as... BLM lock @ 128 with WOT/ MAF high threshold value adjustment to max (over stock setting - a big problem). Also control over BLM update (for low speed AFR tune when changing the MAF calibration curve). The thing I don't like is how the NEW windows work. No 3D curve graphics (Looks like software bugg), and, also wrong headings in some of the various tables. I called carputing for a fix, but no response, so, I dropped trying to get a fix. Anyway, it does work, and, still is a needed tool to tune the stock PCM with pwr-adder. I don't know if you need version 2.2 with OBD1. (97 - SS-M6/ 383 - D1/ 72# Inj-Acceleronics/ 190 AFR/ Spearco intercooled/ Meth-H2o injection). Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply. Can you explain to me what all this means.BLM lock @ 128 with WOT/ MAF high threshold value adjustment to max (over stock setting - a big problem). Also control over BLM update (for low speed AFR tune when changing the MAF calibration curve). I am new to tuning even though I had my LT1 Edit for 5-6 years. I only did the basics Fans, codes limiters, timing up top etc...I know you always want your blm's to be as close to 128 as possible but how do you lock your blm's in when you run FI car? I thought your pe tables take care of your A/F up top? Depending on weather, gas etc. you might not always see the same boost or A/F. Sorry for the questions just trying to learn. Thanks again....John

John, This has been my experience...

BLM lock @ 128 with WOT...
With the BLM (Block learn module - aka as... Long Term Fuel trim) @ 128, there is no injector pulse modification. The BLM is a way that the PCM modifies (increase or decrease) the time your injector is on. Version 2.2 has a feature (in fuel table) that allows you to select this switch. When the TPS goes to WOT, then BLM is held @ 128. 128/128 = 1. You have to tune with PE curves. This is where a "wide band" O2 sensor is of value to change the PE curve.

MAF high threshold value adjustment to max...
Stock setting is a value of 10700 units. Most FI applications exceed this value due to large air flow. On an OBD2 PCM, It has been proposed that the PCM starts to cut the injector pulse low when this value has been passed by large amounts of air flow thru the MAF sensor (A PCM program feature). So, LT1 Edit version 2.2 has included a way around this. I set this to a maximum (65K+). This may not be a problem in OBD1. I don't know. I did have this problem with OBD2 PCM. That is why I purchased version 2.2.

BLM update...
I use this for low speed AFR tune when changing the MAF calibration curve.
My experience has been, you can tune for WOT, but, for normal driving, I still prefer to use the closed loop mode. The PCM uses the MAF to compute the injector pulse time for fueling (other sensors as well). Since I run a D1, their is still alot of air flow thru the MAF. The stock calibration is not set for this large air flow. I adjusted the MAF calibration curve 95% (lower by 5%). It fixed the high (rich) low speed fueling. But then, (after 60+miles & high-way drive) the PCM continued to adjust the BLM's to change the injector pulse time & AFR to a 12 to 12.8:1 ratio (still can't figure that one out???). I wanted a little better mileage (even though it will never be very good), so, there is a setting for "BLM update" based on MAP value. Stock was 18 units. I set it to 200 so that the initial BLM's would not be reset from a new PCM flash. This has allowed the engine to fuel @ 14.7:1 @ about 2000+ rpm cruse speed. This feature is also in version 2.2.

I'm always learning as well. Alot of these ideas I have initially learned from a guy named LJ. He has a biz know as "Acceleronics" (Acceleronics.com) I believe he has documentation on the basics of how the gm PCM works. It sure helped me when I started. I have gone to PCM for less, but, when you get modified to the extent I am, you have to continue to tune. It is better for me to do this myself.

I try to comment on what I have experienced (and worked) since I have alot of time now, but, my ideas are not well received by many who frequent this site (unfortunate). Oh well, these things have worked for me. I like to learn from others, and, see where others have done things different, & exchange ideas. It's like that, and, my rolling experiment runs very strong. I did work @ gm, but, I quit that place. No help from them, and, you can learn more from a site like this. That's the whole point of modding the 4th gen thanx to the internet.

Sorry this is long. Hope this helps.
