Unhappy Lt1 Edit connecting to computer???

Alright a buddy bought lt1 edit and I bought a extra license for my vin. He sent me the program so I have it on my computer to use for my car. Everything loads fine, but when I go to pcm programmer and select program with the .lt1 file I choose it brings up the progress screen and just stays at 0%. I tried com 1-4 and every usb port on my computer. It either fails to connect if on the wrong com or just sits on 0%. Key is on, car runs fine, cable is connected fine. It use to work when I had Windows Xp Home edition, but had to get windows xp professional since then. Any ideas?

I have a similar problem with one of my LT1 edit cables.
It does that with windows Vista. Its the USB cable the one that does that.
No problem with the serial cable.

In my case it depends on the sequence you follow to hook up the cable and start the program.

I connect the cable first into the ALDL connector, then the usb into the computer and then I start the program. After that ignition on when the program prompts you to do so, etc.

I always do a flash download to make sure the connection is good.

Possibly needs driver loaded for cable. Also did you verify PC has COM port assigned on device manager screen.

I have to go through this same process using Tunercat + Win7.

You need to plug in your usb connector, let it establish a virtual COM port, THEN open the program. If you don't do it in this order the program obviously won't see the port...
