low on lowend
low on lowend
Is there anything I can do tuning wise that would help with lowend torque. Really I am just talking about while pulling out (6spd). It has been low on pullout power since I changed cam and heads a few years ago. I am used to it, but my wife and son drives it some. It would be nice not to slip the clutch so much to pull out. The car makes great power everywhere else. Just thought I would ask.
Thanks,

This is nothing that I would be willing to change the gears for. It is not that bad of a problem. Just a little annoying at times. I guess I am curious if raising or lowering the timing at low RPM and high MAP would help any.

Guess that would all depend on where your timing is sitting now at those MAP levels. You could always scan it to see if you have any KR in that range, and if not, then bump it up until you see some, then back it back a couple of deg.

Is the cam compatible with the blower? Perhaps to narrow an LSA/excessive overlap. That would kill what litttle boost there is on the low end. Do you have long tubes? Generally help low end torque. I've been in a Vortech blown 383 M6 that would pop your eyeballs with low end acceleration, and cruise comfortably at 1,000rpm in 6th gear. Big head flows, but not a radical cam.
Is it tuned right down low? It can be lean and you wont really know it (suffering from false 02 readings). This is one of the things I've been trying to improve using the 02's with larger cam and never got it perfect until I turn the 02's off and tuned the VE tables, now I dont worry about low end power like I used to.
Also when I first switched cams and tried to drive it on the old tune I had huge problems trying to climb my hill in the driveway without revving it up pretty high (timing has alot to do with that.. my timing now is around 35 degrees down low under slight load, before I think it was around 20-25.. little tuning made a huge difference.

Thanks guys, I know that I do have a little too much overlap 224/234 on 110 lsa Thats why I was thinking maybe a timing adjustment would help. The car is a beast once you get it moving. This is more of a around town in traffic problem.
Dookie454 I may try raising the timing like you have to see if that helps.
Thanks again,

Thanks again,
my cam actually has more duration otherwise it's much the same and I have boat loads of low end torque, I have 200cc runners as well, it's a 383 so that probably is helping
Sounds like you need to optimize the tune for the cam is all.
