what should i be looking for on the playback? i noticed KR a couple times, but it was in different areas of the RPM band...nothing consistant. i also noticed that when i did a full throttle run, it still said closed loop up top. shouldn't it say open loop when it goes into PE mode (WOT)? my LongTerm #'s stayed around 108-112 while cruising around town, shouldn't it be around 128, like at full throttle? any advice is greatly appreciated!
Yeah, WOT should be 128, which should be cell 15. I check my BLMs in the different cells, mine are usually low like that too. I can actually watch them drop in each cell as I drive. Also watch differences inbetween left and right. I look at the O2 readings at WOT... thats when they don't jump around, and can show something. Throttle %, RPM, and MPH usually help see what you were doing exactly. You can watch other things, like MAP or timing.
I guess it depends on how your car is running and what you are looking for. If you have a problem in a certain area, you'll watch those. I'm concentrating on my A/F, because I'm running rich, so I watch those kinds of things. Of course I notice other little things, if they stand out as looking odd.

Well the two things I used it for was finding out I am running rich by watching my LT BLM's as well as the false knock issue I have a post on.
Very useful tool. It has opened up my eyes to the fact that these cars are not all the same and the computers need to be modified to fit each one.

If you 108-112 your running rich and the pcm is pulling fuel. 108 is the lower limit that the pcm can compensate for (its pulling about 15% at that point). What mods do you have? Are you generally rich across the board when not at wot ?
My thoughts on the running rich is due to your MAF being hacked up...
Your letting extra, un-metered air enter your car, and the computer doesn't see it until it gets to the O2 sensors, then it decides to add more fuel because its seeing the extra air... But then it realises that its got too much fuel, so it starts pulling it back out...
(hahah, yes yes, I know, thats probably not possible, but I too have a hacked up MAF, just descreened, and the low BLM's... and I like this idea as I wish I had never cut up my MAF)
jeff
btw: I just upped my injector constant to 28 lbs. per hour and my BLM's are just about perfect... While it may not be the best solution, it does work for now...

I agree with Jeff....your descreened MAF is your problem. If your rich across the board go ahead and raise the constant to 26....at least that should get you away from the lower limit of 108. You still should be fine in PE. You really need to fix the real problem...get an unmolested MAF.
i just reset my constant (inj) to 26 from 24.9, should the difference take affect right away? i was unsure if i need to drive for a few miles to let the Learn change. it still smells a little rich (strong exhaust fumes, peee-you). i will probably scan again tonight.
Yup, it'll take awhile for it to affect your BLM's as the computer has to re-learn... I'd drive around for a 1/2 hour, making sure you try to hit as many cells as you can... As in totally varied throttle positions, not just on the highway @ 100
You'll notice them come up!! (Again, I have no idea if this is a bad idea wear out injectors?! faster or anything of the like, but its working for me until I can manage to try another 100% stock MAF for a few hours)
Good luck and let us know how it turns out!!
Also, I'd LOVE to hear from any of you that have tried a 100% stock MAF and the results that you've found! perhaps its not the MAF thats causing, but I believe it is!
Thanks,
Jeff

I need to learn more about tuning for irregularities and theres no HOWTO online anywhere so I read as much as possible...keep 'em going
