LM-1 RPM Converter hook up, how you guys doin it.

Thats the question! I do have a lot of diffrent wires, but these instructions are making me feel like a retard. Anyway, I have a MSD6AL so I here you can wire it that way. Out of the tach output.

I know if I want to tap into sensors it has to be the 5volt side.

I just want to here how someone else has done it?

Well, I just went to radio shack to pick up a usb to seriel port connector, some wire and alligator clips, soldered it all together. Hooked the rpm converter to the LM-1, ran one red to the tach output on my MSD6AL and one to the ground and It works great. Did the quick rpm cal. and logged idle.

Works great. I think this is going to greatly inprove my tuning capability.
All I have to do now is pin out my 5 volt MAP wire and what others I want to monitor. This should turn out well.

I had a hell of a time getting my tach output to work with my dynojet wideband commander. I have a Delteq system and it appears nobody else had ever used the wideband commander with delteq. Finally bought an MSD tach adaptor and now it works fine. Your right tuning is a breeze when you can log AFR against Rpm. Mine also logs Throttle Position and MAP.

I use the rpm converter with inductive pick-up around the negative coil wire. Did the 200 rpm calibration and it works flawlessly. Also have map hooked up also. having afr, map, and rpm makes it nice to tune using logworks charts.

97WS6PILOT, what software are you using to tune with and are you still OBDII?

I'm using a dynojet wideband commander for my logging. I also have an Autoxray scanner with enhanced gm parameters. I bought it because it works on my 02 Explorer also. Last but not least I'm using Tunercat for OBD2. I bought it before he sold it to Jet and they raised the price. I've often thought of going to a BS3 but right now I'm stock OBD2. The supercharger is pretty easy to tune with the stock computer.

Are you able to use the same cable for the two? Its nice to hear you're running OBDII also.

The autoxray and tunercat for OBD2 both came with their own OBD2 cables. The wideband commander comes with a cable that runs from its box to my laptop.

Have you ever tried to mix and match the cables? I'm just trying to figure out if I could use the cable from autotap to tune with.

I couldn't tell you. I've never tried it. Your tunercat and Autotap might mix cables but I'm not sure if I'd be will to fry the PCM to find out.

rkinney, where did you hook up the cable to get the map signal?

Thanks,

Jody J.

I was just going to pin it into the connector at the sensor. Soilder the wire to a pin(sewing needle) and insert it into the connector that is th 0-5v pin. Use a multi meter to find the 5v wire of the 3 wires. Pin it and be done. Of course, I want my lm-1 to be used on diffrent cars so I don't want it to be permanent.

Hope this helps, going to try to get that done today.
