Laptop for tuning

I'm looking into getting into tuning. It seems to be cheaper, in the long run, than getting custom burnt chips. Plus, I'm always up for learning something new My question: Do I need a laptop? If so, anything really high-tech? I'm looking at this one

Will that do the job? It's the cheapest one I found. Any recommendations? Other cheapo computers?

I just bought one for work like that. Word of advice it has no rs232 serial port so you will need a pcmia card or a usb adapter. You also will need a chip eraser and a chip programmer, a cable from AKM electronics and all the applicable software to do it. I looked into this myself and I decided I will data log with my laptop but I don't see the need of it when you can buy chips so cheap after you buy the first one.
