is the keyless entry for a 1997 car the same as a 2001?

 

Yes, They have the same Body Control Module.

 

i cant seem to find anything that will plug into it, which wires do i use? thanks

 

In looking at the part numbers again I see 2 different BCM's They are the same for cars without alarms and one is different for cars with alarms. Maybe that's why it doesn't work. That is if you have the right location which I presume you do.
