First of all i think this forum could really benefit from a sticky that covers the basics for newbie's to this. From what ive read this sounds quite complicated, but this is definetly something Id like to learn more about and dig into.

Ok, all that aside, I just picked up a Dell C800 running windows XP for a steal, and it does have a serial port so hopefully im good. Im wondering where I can get a cable or how I can make my own. I used to have a site bookmarked that explained how to make one, but apparently I lost that in a format some time ago.

I guess the best place to start is reading whats going on. I read about FreeScan in some of the searches i did... will that work with a 95 Z?

As for tuning, the only things im really looking to adjust right now is the idle speed and rev limiter. If I can do that without paying mucho $ for an editting program ill do it, but its not necessary. Im not going to mess with anything else until I get my headers, since my car is mostly stock. when i do get them i figure im probably better off just getting a full custom tune via email or something.
