'96-'97 have the same knock sensor.
'94-'95 have the same knock sensor.

If you want to go OBDI with a '96 or '97, the change to the PCM is the same.

I didnt really see a fix for the data cable... What needs to be done to be able to tune it after the obd1 mod? meaning that has to be done to the ADLS port?

1. Soldering the resistor is a bit of a pain in the ***, make sure your equipment is good, if you don't know how to solder properly, you might get a cold joint or you may screw up the board and have a ruined pcm. I did it myself, and it wasn't too bad.

2. For tuning purposes, you don't need to modify the ALDL port, you just need to make or buy the right cable, check out the akm cables website or somewhere else. I have a 96 that I converted to OBD1, and I use the same cable for tuning as my friend with a 95 that came OBD1 but with the OBD2 ALDL port.

cool thanks, I think I am going to do this. I have a friend that can do the sodering, I already have tunercats for my 95 lt1 in my 92 so that isnt an issue. thanks again, now i just need to find a obd1 computer

no prob, if you look around and have a little patience they can be had for $60-70. You can use OBD1 computers from other cars like the Impalas, make sure you get the right part number: 16188051 Doesn't matter what kind of car it comes from or if it's stick or auto, as long as you have a tune for your car in OBD1 form you can program it.

nice and easy if you can solder. luckily I can. Just to be sure one last time: if I yank an obd1 pcm from a junkyard car (assuming pcm is good) all I need to do to make it work in my obd2 car is solder in the resistor as shown? nice $ savings if that is all.

OBD2 to OBD1 in 1996 LT1 caprice impala SS

i have a 1996 LT1 caprice impala SS. i want to do the OBD2 to OBD1 conversion. now if i get a 94 or 95 impala SS OBD1 PCM, will it work in my 1996 impala SS? how about the analog speedo in my 1996 impala SS will it work with OBD1 PCM from the 94-95 impala SS OBD1 PCM that has digital speedo?

i want some clarification on that.
