Ive had my laptop over 2yrs and have never been able to get my serial port to connect to my car correctly..It will work sometimes for a few secs then it will stop...Anyways, would it be worth a try to buy a PCMIA card and use that on my USB port? Its a Dell laptop by the way

I currently use a Dell Inspiration 5150 it doesn't have a serial port but I use a PCMCIA serial card and I have had no issues once I got it set up correctly.

also I have a brand new unopened Startech PCMCIA dual serial card that's for sale $50.

 

What is a dual serial card my new laptop only has usb and One card port is dual card use one port or two.

it's a single card but this one has two serial port connections.
