IAC counts..

Hi guys, what should IAC counts be.. I am having a bad surging problem, I have a mail order tune, but I am getting a dyno tune in a couple of weeks. my iac counts are as follows.. in idle in park closed loop.. around 65-75 varies on temperature. warmed up closed loop in gear foot on brake 160.. I drilled a small hole in the t.b. plate I have a 58mm. holley.. my car is a speed density. it was 160 in park closed loop but now around 65 ,but in drive and foot on brake 160. do I need to adj. more? or should I wait for the dynotune, and can he change. I have a autoxray scanner. not sure what counts should be and why the big diff. from park to drive.

Re: IAC counts..

The IAC is only to control the idle. It has no effect off idle. Most folks say that the counts at idle should be 30-40. You can enlarge the holes you drilled in order to accomplish this. I drilled two 5/16 holes in my 58mm tb and it idles great. You cannot even tell when the a/c kicks on.

As for the surging problem. I believe that this represents a lean condition and can be cured by adding fuel in the area where it occurs. Good luck.
