I have windows 95, do I need to upgrade

Got a laptop but it's kinda old. It has133mzh, 32 ram, with windows 95. I can run freescan but when I hook up tunercat it keeps saying "no message sent cable failure". I have a new cable from AKM cables and the connections seem tight so I was wondering if I need window 98 or 2000. Anybody else have and knowledge on this. Thanks

I had this problem while trying to use a friends laptop before i purchased mine. He was running winxp so it wasnt that. Try using the help guide.
http://www.akmcables.com/serial.doc
It got mine working.
And all winxp will do is make your computer run slower because it uses more resources

Keep using 95. 98 is too unstable, and will slow it down a LOT (as will any later OS). Make sure you don't have FreeScan running when you are trying to connect with TunerCat. I recommend that you use the DOS software when loading files to your car...that can eliminate a lot of potential problems, and it will be a lot more stable. Don't just run a DOS window, actually shut windows down (exit to DOS).

Windows 98 SE is LOTS more stable than windows 95 (original service release and even version 2.5 or C) and Windows ME was probably the most unstable out of them all hehe. We have alot less trouble out of Windows 98 Second Edition than 95, ME.
