hypertech settings

2000 ss, 3.73, 3200 stall, bolt-ons. bought a used hypertech off ebay yesterday. What settings do I use for my car? how do i determine where the shift points should be and all that stuff? also, do I need to make sure it's cleared from the last car it was on? or something? any suggestions would be appreciated as i've never used a programmer before and don't want to screw it up. thanks

Re: hypertech settings

When I had the HPP3 I didn't install the tune, just used it for fan temps, gears and set shift firmness at +50. As far as shift points every car is different, you'll have to experiment - make small changes and recheck. Also, don't increase shift firmness if you're running a shift kit, don't raise the rev limiter, and make sure your battery is fully charged before programming. The unit should've been returned to stock by the seller, if they didn't it won't work on your car. Hope this helps.
