hypertech programmer
hypertech programmer
hi my dad got a hypertech programmer for his car and it is still programmed to another car. i found a guy that reprogrammers them in texas and does them for like $25 but i lost his email and web site. do you any of you guys no is email or website.
I've never done this before, but I suspect this is how it works:
1. Program a PCM and set the VIN to the VIN the HPP is locked to
2. Use the HPP to "restore the original tune"
3. The HPP is unlocked and may be used to program a different vehicle
The HPPs are not programmable by anybody other then the people who made it.

nope that doesnt work,, im thinking they must pull the chip out of it and re-flash it
I've used one before. This is how it went:
1. Programmed my PCM. HPP LOCKED! Couldn't use it on another LT1.
2. Returned my car to stock using the HPP. HPP UNLOCKED!
3. Reprogrammed other LT1 just fine!
so im assuming if you changed your PCM to think it was the VIN the HPP was locked on, and returned that one to stock, it would work just fine..

no it doesnt work like that, there is more info the hpp looks for other than the vin number
i have tried thad before and even if the vin # matches it will not program the new ecm
There is much better tuning than a hpp. A canned tune is not the way to go for power. By the time you pay for the programmer. You can get a good dyno shop to tune your car. Each engine is different. I see a huge difference on cars. Even factory cars I tune. The AFR is hardly ever the same.
