hypertech programmer

im bying a hypertech programmer soon here and the reason is because i changed my gears from 2.73's to 3.23's, my question is if i plug it in and program a few things along with calibrating my speedo to work with my new gears, let say i decided to put everything back to stock one day would my speedo calibration also go back to stock or what, i mean how about if i want to sell this thing one day i understand that you have to take the program out in order to sell it so it works on the other car but im mostly concerned if my speedo would have to go back to the old gears settings, also another question what happens if your battery died does the program stay in the car's computer or i have to program it again, or even buy another programer, thank you for any info guys.

In order for you to sell it... You do have to return to it to stock and that does include gear settings.

If you battery goes bad, you do not have to reprogram it is flashed to the computer chip.

so is there any way that's very simple and easy and cost effective to just recalibrate your speedo somehow without bying the pragrammer or changing your computer, can the dealer do it?

The dealer CAN do it, but the question is will they...

I would recommend you look into someone like PCMforless or Madwolf. Both are capable programmers and have done it many many times. Expect this option to cost in the neighborhood of $150 plus shipping after it's all over with.

Depending on your locality, there might also be a local shop who can change the ratio in the PCM for you for even less money. This option might only cost you $50 or so if that's all you need done.

EDIT: Just noticed that you are an OBDI car... $65 or so for the cable, and pick up Tunercat.. Then you can change basically ANYTHING you want tuning wise yourself and never have to pay anyone else to do it ever again...
