How can I dump my chip info onto my laptop?
I would like to dump my chip info(.bin file?) onto my laptop harddrive but I have yet to find a logger to do that. I want a starting point to start tuning my car and would like to review the settings in my stock chip. Can anybody point me into the right direction?

I made a Win 98 Boot cd but forgot that my hd is NTFS(couldn't access my hd) so that was a no-go.

I am assuming that you are talking about your 88 IROC?? To read the eprom you will need the get an Eprom programmer. They're only about $60 and plug into your printer port. You'll need to remove the 2732 Eprom from the ECM and separate the eprom from the plastic carrier, then you can plug the eprom into your reader, do a read, and save the buffer file to your hard drive. The Thirdgen.org website server crashed but there's a ton of good info about Eprom burning. They are trying to get the server back on line. Also Craig Moates is making some real nifty stuff to read and program eproms for 3rd gen stuff. His website is www.Moates.net.

I got Craig Moates software to work under a Win 98 boot disk, only problem now is I can't dump the .bin file. It dumps about 1k of my .bin to my floppy and then says it times out and can connect to my ECM. I can view my sensor values fine though. Kinda sucks.
The main reason I want my "stock" bin is to review it and see if it is actually stock or if the previous owner had some tuning done. I plan to purchase a PROMinator soon and I need to see the timing tables on my current .bin and compare them to a stock timing table. I have some knock issues currently and I'm trying to track down the source (bad gas, chip's timing tables, physical timing etc.)
