Help a noob... Basic Cable Software help?
Help a noob... Basic Cable Software help?
I'm about to order a AKMCables USB->OBD1 cable for my 1994 Z28.
What do I need to know? What software will I need? I want to learn how to do some basics... Start off by tuning my fan kick-ons for a 160* stat... maybe learn how to boost shift firmness...
Where can I get the softwarre?
Any help? The laptop is a Dell C800... 800mhz,512mb,16mbvga,20gbhdd with windowsxp

Get a copy of TTS Datamaster for logging - it is free for monitoring your data and it will record 20 logs, if youneed more you have to register it and pay.
Get Tunercat ($69) and the $EE and $EEL definition files ($19) for tuning.
What do you need to know? You need to know that this software is powerful and you can wreck your engine and transmission with it if you don't know what you're doing. You need to know how to tune a car, and you need to understand EFI systems and electronic controls & sensors. Do lots of logging and try to understand what you're looking at and do lots of reading and research. It's (most of it, anyway) all out there somewhere on the inet.
