Trying to register the wifes 96 Z and it failed the plug in OBD II test with a 1661 trouble code. The code comes up as a MIL Control circut failure. Best I can tell the tester wasn't able to connect to the PCM (I think).

I thought I was pretty good with OBD II cars, but I have no idea what this is.

It's not listed by GM for a '96, but is for a '97. It's also listed in my book for a '96, with the same description.

 

Thanks. I figured it out.

I can't beleive they would fail it because the SES light was burned out. Replaced the bulb, car passed emissions.

Who knew.....
