GM Tech II and HP Programer
GM Tech II and HP Programer
Tried searching, couldn't find anything.....Tech Question.....Can you do the same thing with a GM Tech II ($30,000 GM scan tool) that you could do with any power programer on the market? The reason I ask is, I have an uncle (ASE cert/ GM Master-Tech) who has one of these fancy scan tools. Can I do a form of a "Power Program" with this? Like lean out the mixture under WOT to lets say to 11.5:1or 12:1?? I'm out of the country right now/ not home (USAF)... If you can access injector timing with this, could you do your own re-programming?....Just figured I'd ask. Thanx
Re: GM Tech II and HP Programer
Yes and no. First, the Tech II is closer to like $4000. You can read virtually anything in the PCM, EBCM and other modules in the car, and upload updates into the computer. You can take control of certain things for testing purposes, like individual injectors for example. I used one for a couple years and as far as I know you cannot use it to reprogram parameters like spark and fuel curves. It's used for dealer things like programming computers for new ignition locks and things along those lines.
I think you're looking more for something like LT1 edit. There's plenty of programs out there that you can use with a laptop and still have similar diagnositic capabilities, with the ability to tune and spend less to boot.

Hmm..thanx for the info, and yeah I probably got the price wrong. Was just wondering if I could have my uncle do the programing. But I guess not...No harm done... From the mods that I have, would it be benificial to buy a programer? Or should I wait until I get into the motor a little more?
