getting knock, don't know why

I have been using tunercat/datamaster to tune my car, and have had some help from others. Problem I had was knock at 95-100 kpa with a madz tune obd1 conversion (bought it from here). So I reduce the spark tables by 2 deg or so, try it again. 5 times, Same result. So I put a stock tune and run a log. Same result. I wouldnt think the stock tune would show knock and retard timing, would it? I always use 93.
Car has mild mods (intake, hooker catback, tb bypass) but soon to have headers and I want to figure out what the problem could be. What would happen if I put in a obd1 pcm into my 97 without having the modification(maybe I got ripped off?)? Why is it knocking? Any help is appreciated.
