I changed my differential carrier and gear set a while back...i went from a 2.73 to a 3.42, my car has the top speed limiter and unforturatly my top speed now is around 150 km/h...i bought the trans speedo cable drive and driven gears for a 3.42 car and was wondering if that will solve my problem. was also wondering if i disconnect the speedo cable electrical harness if my top speed limiter wouldn't work...any help or advice? thanks

car is a '93 z with a 700r4 (4l60)

 

Right, unhooking the speedo setup will disable the limiter. Try the computing forum for these types of, computer related questions.

 

Please post generation specific tech questions in the appropriate forum... in this case "LT1 Tech" or "Computer......."

Does your 93 have the 120 or 150 mph speedo in it?

I know the 94 with 120 are limited to 110 or so.
If it came with Z rated tires this limit is not there.

It's in the chip on a 93 and you would need to replace it with one that has the limiter changed.
