Not ignoring you, but never saw any problems like you mentioned, so really can't add any good ideas.. . Are you running Windows XP or running Vista. This is old software written on 2000, 9 years ago , last update in 2003, over 6 years ago. Seems to work fine on XP.. Have you tried a different down load source. I got mine from here.. http://www.andywhittaker.com/ECU/Fre...0/Default.aspx . Have you tried TTS DataMaster (EE). It's free for 20 logs, that will test that your cable, connection and PCM capability all work.

I have seen both errors on my laptop as well with this software. You just have to toy with it, shut the application down, reopen, reboot PC, etc. Usually comes up fine after Ive tried a few things. Like these cars, the software is a bit temprimental..ha.

You will always see this msg if Freescan can't find the cable. The USB variety cables usually come with a software driver ... an FTDI driver that needs to be installed. The latest FTDI driver sets are available at http://ftdichip.com/FTDrivers.htm

Re: freescan help needed

Dont mean to revive a 2 yr old thread but i have been having the exact same issue with Freescan as the OP. I have tried all diff types of hookup scenerios. Unplug, replug, reboot, ect ect and get the same thing everytime. Doesnt look like there was any solution offered so i figured maybe others have had the issue and can touch upon how they remedied it? I am running Vista and the drivers for ALDL cable seemed to upload fine so, i dont know what the deal is. Thanks

Re: freescan help needed

I had to return my cable and get the High-Speed cable that was offered on Amazon. Now it works fine. My previous cable "claimed" to be high speed but it wasn't.
