Free scanning w/ computer

Does anyone any freeware programs on computers that let you scan obd2? I heard there are a couple but i am not having any luck finding them. I eventually want to get lt1edit but not at the moment. I basically just want to check oxygen sensors/ses/temps and a few things like that.

Also, where can i get the cable to connect obd2 to whatever it connects to?

I have a hypertech cable that i may be able to use. It has a 15 port male gameport on one edge that i could probably convert to many things.
