Firmer shifts programmed(PCM)??

I had my PCM tuned a while back and got the firmer shifts programmed in the PCM as well. My problem is I drive alot in the city(stop & go) and Im getting tired of these jerky, neck snapping shifts all the time. Is there a easy way to fix it, or would I have to delete the whole tune that I had done?

PM sent.

You could copy someone else's tranny tables but I think that would totally defeat the purpose of having the tables adjusted in the first place. Maybe you could contact the person that did the tune and have it toned down a bit?

Your more than welcome to use my tranny tables but they are completely stock.

I'd like to take a look at your tables if you don't mind.

Sorry, got ahead of myself there. You probably sent your PCM out for programming and have no way of uploading or reading your PCM so essentially you cannot help me. If you do have a cable and TunerCat or LT1 Edit then you could read your PCM and get the information for me.

Thanks though

Thanks

Cool, Steve is a great guy to deal with. The cable is very easy to install as well.

No offense guys, but why are you so interested in the file? Are you looking to get these firm shifts? Ill send the file as soon as I get the cable and figure out how to do it. By the way I had it done at my local shop, ATS Performance, I met the guy online and he had just put the tune on his 95' TA that he was running 11's in. ill probably go back to get him to fix it, but you guys have me curious now, so im interested to see how much above stock he adjusted the shifts.

I'm trying to firm up my shifts that's why i'm interested. I only want to program a quick firm shift for some testing that i'm doing with my car - trying to find some problems and I want to eliminate the long drawn out shifts that I have now. I'm buying a shift kit soon hopefully but i'd like to firm them up for the time being.

Well mine shift very quickly 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd, then 3rd to 4th almost goes straight to OD unless im really on the gas, so it would probably be good for what your looking for. If I raced my car, or took it to the track I would be fine with it, but I just use mine as a fun, fast drive once, or twice a week of mainly in town driving.

That's exactly what i'm interested in for right now. I'd like to see if a shift kit is actually going to make a difference in my car. This is an easy cheap way to do it for a short amount of time.

shift time v/s TPS v/s shift, normal and performance.

THIS IS ON TUNERCAT!

drop these units down to .75, or even .10

You'll love it. I did this to my friends car, and you'd swear that it had a shift kit in it.

Instead of upping the main line pressure?

I put my main line pressure at 115 and now shifts are faster and a bit harder. Only using this temporarily until a shift kit is installed.

Uping the main line pressure will make a difference, but not as much as it used to.

ie....

Old tranny's had nothing but spool valves to rely on to controll shifts. We have eletric solinoids now.

With difference pressures with older cars, you'd have a bigger pressure difference which in turn would make the car shift faster and harder than before, but with solidnoids, it didn't affect it as much as expected, cause the solidnoids are the diciding factors of controlling the shift.

If you take the time and decrease it, then you make the shift take place faster. Ours was like 6.43 before, we droped it down to .10, and wow. Try it, you'll love it.

......if I'm wrong, someone set me straight, I'm in a hurry and didn't go in as much detail as I'd like right now.
