Final word on open loop operation

I have another post in here about this but the main question got lost in the interworkings of the thread. So I will keep this one short and sweet.

Friends 01 3.8 firebird. Enters closed loop fast as normal. But durning normal driving will switch in and out into open loop. I need to know when are the only times that the computer should be in open loop IE decell, acell, WOT etc etc and when it should not. I also need to know what would possibly trip it to open loop at teh worng time (be specific) and what I should look for in the 02's as for a cause.

Thanks everyone.

Re: Final word on open loop operation

i ran into a car this week that the o2 was messed up on it. once it went into closed loop. i could watch the blm slowly count down, once it got to around 100 it would switch back into open loop.

not sure if its the same with the 3.8 computer but check the blms.

connection is solid and clean. The dealer replaced the PCM about 2 months ago as they were guessing to his missfire issue
